Submitted another IRCC II update, but I think I will hold off on reposting it here since it would just be redundant.  However, I do have something new and shiny to show off: A portrait miniature necklace!  There are many extant miniatures from England, but there are enough from Italy to not make it out of the question for me to make one for this ( Read more... )

I wrote up an update for IRCC II, but realized that I am a bit behind on LJ.  After I finished my delightfully successful mock up with the blue doublet, I went ahead and cut out the pattern pieces for the red underdoublet worn by Don Gabriel in his portrait by Moroni.

So last week I posted about how I was resizing my SO's slightly too small doublet to fit me. I have finished, and here are the results: I have a new doublet :3

I have my doublet pattern mostly worked out I think.  I draped a new pattern out on my sort of dress form, and assuming that it turns out successfully, it is definately a super fast way to make new patterns.  It's not perfectly Me shaped, but close enough to speed up the pattern making process.

So I am participating in this year's Italian Renaissance Costuming Challenge hosted by Realm of Venus. I was really bummed last year when I found out about the contest just a smidge too late to join.
